General Features

Flexible reporting functionality

SUMMIT has a fully integrated, real-time general ledger based on a comprehensive mapping technology. This offers significant flexibility in designing your general ledger. The mapping features are facilitated using a graphical interface for ease of administration and the technology allows custom definition of financial reports.

SUMMIT also allows users to save reports in a number of popular word processing and spreadsheet formats as well as directing output to a Web browser for internet/intranet applications. All SUMMIT reports can be viewed on-line, routed to fax servers or exported in numerous formats.

Productivity enhancing features

Based on potential workflow bottlenecks in a fund accountant’s routine, SUMMIT has specific features designed to assist in reducing these potential problems as follows:

  • Specific tool bar buttons - allow immediate referencing of general ledger entries to the originating trade, journal headers to the full entry and trades to the effect on holdings. An intuitive interface allows increased productivity with logically grouped system functions provided through tabs and folders of associated work functions.
  • Built in sophisticated search screens - allow quick pinpointing of information, thereby reducing analytical time and increasing productivity.
  • Custom designed general ledger codes - allow accountants to operate the general ledger using custom designed mapping codes without having to memorize account numbers. General Ledger functions are organized to save time and minimize errors.

Secure application environment

Users in the SUMMIT system are classified using Security Profiles. A Security Profile is similar to a job description within SUMMIT and allows users certain access privileges, based on their responsibilities.

Security constraints are activated at the company level, fund level, screen level and specific functionality within each screen level. The user can define functional roles (job descriptions) within your organization and assign individuals and privileges to each role.

Automatic data upload capability

SUMMIT can expedite updates of market prices, currency rates, securities, transactions and reconciliation files using a friendly interface for the automated transfer of data. This function is facilitated within SUMMIT using the import/export module, or Data Portal. Many activities are critical to the production of the NAV and general fund management processes. These activities are often repetitive, performed under severe time constraints and prone to human error. SUMMIT’s Data Portal can automate these activities and also validate the data using visual queues to identify errors, providing prompt solutions and allowing for corrections. The system will colour code information to visually highlight transfer status and errors immediately.
